Rising Dampness

Rising Dampness is caused by a lake of an effective D.P.C.  in the wall

the doc is usually located around 150mm above external ground level

and can be anything impervious to water from Bluebricks,Slate, lead, bitumen,copper

the damp course is designed to stop the rise of groundwater from below ground into the superstructure.

Modern Remedial DPC products minimise the structural damage to the walling material.
